Avalanches, snowstorms, and injuries ensue, yet, improbably, all ends well. The story clips along, but it's hard to believe in the characters and the foolish risks they take.

After moving to a different town, fifth-grader Cody Carson vows to cultivate a new persona. Kids will relate to Cody's humorous attempts at self-improvement, though the narrative is generally prosaic.
